Simeon Chien

Simeon Chien is a bass guitarist, guitarist, session musician multi instrumentalist, musician, singer/songwriter, music producer and sound engineer. From 2012, onwards, he has written many albums, employing mostly himself, playing all the instruments, such as keyboard, piano, acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitar, drums, ukulele and double bass while singing. Chien then produces the mixes of his recorded loops into a full song and then publishes them to Facebook and YouTube for streaming.

Prior to writing his solo material, Chien has also collaborated with community projects, playing bass guitar in the University Of Dundee Big Band and playing guitar in his Saturday morning Jazz School where he teaches double bass to young school children.

Simeon Chien had stated in an interview on BridgeFM Hospital Radio "When I write music, I will sit in front of my laptop with either my guitar or bass or at my piano, keyboard and drums, sampling with chords, melodies, beats, riffs and music phrases and then I will think of a title and plot, depending on the style of genre that I am writing the music in and then when I am happy with the sound of them, I will build up my structures with intros, verses, chorus, bridges, solos and outros and then I will write the lyrics. For me, it's like writing a fictional book".

In April 2019 after finding that his music is becoming a success, reaching up to over 160 followers and fans from across Scotland, Chien asked session musicians, Annie Mather on drums, Kenneth Scott on guitar and bass, Stew Methven on guitar and Iona Wheeler on keyboard to collaborate with his project (which is to be titled 'Simeon Chien Live'), in order to support him while performing his solo material at his live shows. The band are currently on-going with rehearsals and are aiming to start the shows quite soon. Chien employed new members of his band on his solo project. These new members include Michal Ziec on guitar/backing vocals, Nicolas Leitch on guitar/bass and backing vocals, Fyfe Galbraith on keyboard and Joe Petrie on drums.

In September 2019, Chien signed up to become part of the Newcastle based free publicity radio station 'Chat And Spin Radio' and earned free public broadcasts of his music. Chien's music became best known around the world having been publicised for free and he earned a weekly public broadcast on Chat And Spin Radio. However, the station closed down permanently due to the death of the radio station's owner in November 2022.

Chien suffers with autism and has a passion of music, in terms of song writing and live performance. He has had influences of artists, such as Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, Kings Of Leon, Queen, The Beatles, Wings, Elton John and Stevie Wonder, etc. but he mainly likes to write his music.

Furthermore, Chien's music will take us through his inspirations of his personal life, travelling events, historical events and fictional stories.
